PROGRAMS
At Cadence Park, our PTSA programs are designed to do more than fill a calendar—they are built to create connection, spark joy, support student growth, and strengthen our entire school community.
Thanks to the generosity of our families, we are able to offer a wide range of programs that support students academically, socially, and emotionally—while also creating meaningful opportunities for families to engage in school life.
Summer Meet-Ups
Summer Meet-Ups are a series of casual gatherings held at the end of summer to help students and families reconnect and build community before the school year begins. Hosted either on campus or at local parks, these events give friends a chance to reunite and new Pumas an opportunity to start forming friendships ahead of the first day of school. To create a more comfortable and engaging experience for each age group, we host four separate meet-ups: PK/Kinder, Lower Elementary (1st–3rd), Upper Elementary (4th–5th), and Middle School (6th–8th). These events help set a welcoming tone for the year and ensure every student starts school feeling connected.
Back to School Aloha (August)
Our signature kickoff event, Back to School Aloha welcomes families back to campus for an evening of connection, play, and community. It’s a chance to reconnect with friends, meet new families, and explore the many PTSA programs, clubs, and events planned for the year—helping everyone get plugged in and excited for what’s ahead.
Pumajama Storytime (September, December, February)
Designed especially for our PK–3rd grade students, Pumajama Storytime is a cozy, joy-filled evening that nurtures a love of reading and community. Our little Pumas arrive in their pajamas, bringing their favorite stuffed animals and blankets, and settle in to enjoy stories read by special guest readers. The evening wraps up with milk and cookies, and often a book exchange, making it a simple yet meaningful tradition for our youngest learners and their families.
Reflections (October)
Reflections is a National PTA arts competition that encourages students to explore their creativity and share their unique voice through original works of art. Submissions are judged on interpretation of the theme, creativity, and technique, with students advancing from the school level to Council, District, State, and even National competitions.
Fall Family Event: Trunk-or-Treat & Movie Night (October)
Our Fall Family Event brings the community together for a festive evening of Halloween fun and connection. Families transform their car trunks into creative displays while handing out candy to students dressed in their most imaginative costumes. The celebration continues as everyone gathers on the school field for a movie under the stars, creating a shared experience that blends excitement with cozy community time. With a photo booth, face painting, food trucks, and free giveaways,
the night is full of energy, connection, and a little bit of Halloween magic.
Dad’s Club Presents: OCSC Family Soccer Night (October)
A fun night out for the whole family, OCSC Family Soccer Night brings our school community together to cheer on the Orange County Soccer Club right here in the Great Park. With specially discounted tickets for Cadence Park families, it’s an easy and exciting way to connect, show school spirit, and enjoy a live sporting event together.
Tournament of Champions: VolleyFest (October)
VolleyFest is an exciting annual volleyball tournament hosted by OC Youth Sports, open to Pumas in grades 5th–8th. Students have the opportunity to compete against teams from across Orange County while building skills, learning teamwork, and proudly representing Cadence Park. It’s a high-energy experience that combines friendly competition with school pride and community spirit.
Red Ribbon Week (October)
Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention campaign, celebrated in schools and communities across the United States. At Cadence Park, we expand on this initiative by promoting healthy choices and overall well-being for our students. Each day of the week features a special theme, with teachers incorporating these messages into classroom activities to help students learn and practice healthy habits.
Puma Run Club (October to May)
Puma Run Club is open to all students in grades K–8 and meets on Friday mornings throughout the year. This inclusive program brings students together across grade levels to build friendships, stay active, and develop healthy habits in a fun and supportive environment. Students participate in active games, take on weekly nutrition challenges, and work toward personal goals—all while building confidence and endurance. The fall season culminates in the Run for a Claus race in December, and the spring season wraps up with the Kids Run the OC race in May, where students celebrate their progress and earn finisher medals.
Tournament of Champions: Harvest Cup (December)
Harvest Cup is an exciting annual soccer tournament hosted by OC Youth Sports, bringing together Pumas in grades 3rd–8th to compete against teams from across Orange County. Players experience the energy of game-day competition while sharpening their skills, building teamwork, and representing Cadence Park with pride. It’s a fun and competitive experience that encourages growth, confidence, and school spirit.
Tournament of Champions: Winter Bowl (January)
Winter Bowl is an exciting annual flag football tournament hosted by OC Youth Sports, bringing together Pumas in grades 3rd–8th to compete against teams from across Orange County. Players experience the energy of game-day competition while building skills, working as a team, and learning the strategy behind the game. It’s a dynamic and engaging experience that fosters confidence, sportsmanship, and school pride.
International Night (January)
One of the most beloved events of the year, International Night brings our community together to celebrate the rich diversity that makes Cadence Park so special. Families host country booths where they share their heritage through food, games, crafts, and cultural traditions. The evening is filled with vibrant performances that showcase the music and arts of cultures from around the world. With a tapestry of sights, sounds, and flavors, International Night is a fully immersive experience that invites our community to learn, connect, and celebrate one another.
Talent Show (February)
The Talent Show is a beloved event where students take the stage to share their unique talents in a supportive and celebratory environment. From music and dance to comedy and creative performances, students have the opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, and shine in front of their peers and families. More than just a performance, the Talent Show fosters courage, creativity, and a strong sense of community as students cheer each other on and celebrate one another’s talents.
Tournament of Champions: Hoops Classic (March)
Hoops Classic is an exciting annual basketball tournament hosted by OC Youth Sports, open to Pumas in grades 2nd–8th. Students compete against teams from across Orange County in a fast-paced, high-energy environment that builds skills, teamwork, and confidence on the court. Players have the opportunity to grow through competition while representing Cadence Park with pride and strong sportsmanship.
Cub to Puma Maturity Talks (March)
Cub to Puma Maturity Talks are thoughtfully designed, age-appropriate sessions that support students as they navigate the changes of puberty. These presentations create a comfortable and respectful environment where students and their trusted adults can learn about physical, emotional, and social changes associated with adolescence. Led by our school educators, the program encourages open dialogue, builds confidence, and helps families begin or continue important conversations at home.
Spring Obstacle Course (March)
The Spring Obstacle Course is a high-energy, school-wide event that brings our entire community together for a day of movement, teamwork, and celebration. While this event has historically been tied to our spring fundraiser, the incredible generosity of our families has allowed it to evolve into a day focused purely on community spirit and student experience. Students rotate through a variety of obstacle challenges, cheering each other on and building confidence, resilience, and connection along the way. It’s a joyful, active celebration that highlights what makes Cadence Park such a strong and supportive community.
Puma Marketplace (April)
Puma Marketplace is a signature Cadence Park program that empowers students in grades 4th–8th to become young entrepreneurs. Students design, create, and market their own products, gaining hands-on experience in creativity, budgeting, and business planning. On event day, the marketplace comes to life as students run their own booths, interact with customers, and sell their products to the community. From handmade goods to creative innovations, each booth reflects the unique ideas and effort of our students.
Dad’s Club Presents: Camp Cadence Campout (April)
Camp Cadence is a unique overnight experience where families come together to transform the school field into a lively campsite filled with tents, activities, and community fun. Families set up their own campsites and are encouraged to decorate their spaces, creating a festive and welcoming environment. The evening includes shared meals, games, and a high-energy DJ glow party, bringing the entire community together in a fun and memorable way. Centered around a communal camp circle, this event fosters connection, laughter, and lasting memories as families enjoy a one-of-a-kind camping experience right on campus.
BrainStorm STEM (throughout the year)
BrainStorm STEM brings hands-on, in-class STEM enrichment directly to our students through our partnership with BrainStorm STEM Education. This full-service program provides expert instructors and all necessary materials, delivering engaging, grade-specific lessons tailored to each classroom. Students participate in interactive, project-based activities that spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and deepen their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math in a fun and meaningful way.
ArtsTeach (throughout the year)
Through our partnership with Segerstrom Center for the Arts, ArtsTeach brings enriching, hands-on arts experiences directly to our students. Professional teaching artists lead engaging lessons designed for each grade level, providing students with opportunities to explore creativity in meaningful ways. Whether through movement, visual arts, or performance, students build confidence, express themselves, and connect more deeply with the arts through this dynamic program.
MathCounts (throughout the year)
MathCounts is a competitive mathematics program designed for middle school students to strengthen problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and mathematical thinking. Participants work both individually and as a team to prepare for local and regional competitions. Through regular practice and collaboration, students build confidence tackling complex problems while developing perseverance and critical thinking. MathCounts offers a rewarding opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of math in a supportive, challenge-driven environment.
Science Olympiad (throughout the year)
Science Olympiad is a team-based academic competition open to students in grades 4–6, offering an early opportunity to explore a wide range of scientific disciplines through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. Students collaborate to prepare for events spanning topics such as engineering, biology, chemistry, and physics. Through experimentation, teamwork, and problem-solving, students build a strong foundation in science while developing critical thinking skills. Science Olympiad provides an engaging and dynamic introduction to academic competition at the elementary level.
Lunch & LEAP (throughout the year)
Lunch & LEAP transforms ordinary Wednesdays into meaningful midweek moments for our students. From colorful chalk murals to field games, crafts, and brain teasers, this program brings creativity, connection, and joy to the playground. This program is made possible by our amazing volunteers, whose time and presence help turn simple moments into lasting memories.
ACE (After-school Classroom Enrichment) (throughout the year)
Through our partnership with IPSF (Irvine Public Schools Foundation), ACE offers a wide range of after-school classes that allow students to continue learning in fun, engaging ways beyond the regular school day. These courses provide students with opportunities to explore new interests, build skills, and engage in hands-on, interactive learning in a fun and supportive environment. Classes span a range of subjects—from STEM and academic enrichment to arts, creativity, and more—giving students the flexibility to discover what excites them while continuing to grow both academically and personally.
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week (TSAW) (May)
Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week is a special time dedicated to celebrating the incredible educators and staff who support our students every day. Throughout the week, the PTSA coordinates thoughtful gestures to recognize their hard work and dedication. We provide special lunches, restock the staff lounge with snacks and treats, and give each staff member a small token of appreciation. Students and families also take part through themed days—bringing flowers, wearing their teacher’s favorite color, and writing heartfelt notes of thanks. This week is a meaningful opportunity for our entire community to come together and show gratitude for the people who make Cadence Park such a supportive and inspiring place to learn.
8th Grade Promotion Dance (June)
The 8th Grade Promotion Dance is a special celebration where our graduating Pumas come together to mark the end of their Cadence Park journey. Held on the final Wednesday of the school year, this event gives students the opportunity to celebrate friendships, reflect on shared memories, and enjoy one final evening together. As a joyful send-off before promotion, the dance serves as a fun and meaningful “last hurrah” for students to close out their middle school experience.
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony (June)
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is a formal celebration where families, staff, and the broader school community come together to honor our students as they complete their time at Cadence Park and prepare for the next chapter. This meaningful event recognizes students’ growth, accomplishments, and contributions, providing a moment of reflection, pride, and celebration for both students and their families. It is a special opportunity for our community to come together in support of our graduating class.
Parent Engagement Series (throughout the year)
The Parent Engagement Series is designed to support and empower families by providing meaningful opportunities to learn, connect, and engage in topics that matter most to our community. Through a variety of workshops, guest speakers, and guided discussions, we explore important subjects such as student mental health, behavior and peer relationships, child safety, and digital and internet safety. These sessions are designed to offer practical tools, helpful insights, and space for thoughtful conversation. By creating opportunities for parents and caregivers to stay informed and connected, this program helps strengthen the partnership between home and school—ensuring we are working together to support the well-being and success of every student.
