Each year, PTSA units across the Irvine Unified Council PTA (IUCPTA) come together to recognize individuals who make an extraordinary impact on our school communities. This year, Cadence Park PTSA proudly nominated the following individuals:
- Honorary Service Award – Celso Gutierrez-Cueva
- Outstanding Teacher Award – Michael Kronenberg
- Very Special Person Award – Michelle Villanueva
🎉 Celso Gutierrez-Cueva – Honorary Service Award Recipient
We are thrilled to share that Celso Gutierrez-Cueva has been selected by IUCPTA as this year’s Honorary Service Award recipient. He will be honored at this year’s awards ceremony on May 20th.
Those of us at Cadence Park know exactly how deserving this recognition is. Celso is the person who makes things happen—often before anyone even asks. From early morning setups to late-night breakdowns, and from supporting nearly every PTSA event to helping bring new ideas like the Campout and Obstacle Course to life, his impact is felt across our entire campus. His dedication, problem-solving, and genuine care for our students and community elevate everything we do. We are so proud to see him recognized at the council level.
🎶 Michael Kronenberg – Outstanding Teacher Nominee
We are proud to recognize Michael Kronenberg for his Outstanding Teacher nomination. In just two years, he has transformed our music and theater programs into something truly special. He has been an incredible partner to PTSA, playing a key role in bringing events like International Night, Talent Show, and Puma Marketplace to life. His ability to connect with students and support them both on and off the stage has made a lasting impact on our community.
💙 Michelle Villanueva – Very Special Person Nominee
We are also honored to recognize Michelle Villanueva as our Very Special Person nominee. Michelle has served our PTSA in many roles over the years, including President, and most recently as our Financial Reviewer. Her leadership, dedication, and willingness to step in wherever needed have made a lasting impact on our community and helped shape the strong, supportive environment we all benefit from today.
We are incredibly proud of all three of our nominees. While only one recipient was selected at the council level, each of these individuals represents the very best of our community, and we are so grateful for all they do.

Every year, our school community is shaped by the people who choose to show up—and this year, that’s you.
The teachers and staff of Cadence Park would love to invite all of our volunteers to a special Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, May 27 at 8:30 AM in the Cadence Park Auditorium.
This morning is meant to be something truly special—a celebration of the impact each of you has made. Whether you volunteered once or showed up week after week, you are part of what makes Cadence Park such a meaningful and connected community.
Our teachers and staff are putting together a morning designed to help you really feel the strength of this community—and the important role you played in it. This year will include a special presentation recognizing each of our volunteer teams, a program full of fun surprises (including teacher serenades!), time to celebrate alongside the community you helped build, and a small gift of gratitude from your PTSA.
📩 Be on the lookout for a formal Evite from Brittany Shiva with full details.
We truly hope you’ll join us. Come celebrate what we’ve built together—because without our volunteers, without you, this community wouldn’t be what it is.

The 8th Grade Dance is a special evening for our graduating Pumas to celebrate their time at Cadence Park—one more chance to come together, have fun, and make memories before heading off to high school.
This year’s theme, “One Last Dance,” captures exactly what the night is about: celebrating friendships, shared experiences, and all the moments that made their time here so meaningful.
With a DJ, food, games, and more, this is an event every 8th grader will want to be part of.
Our Dance Committee is hard at work bringing everything together, and we can’t wait to see our students enjoy this unforgettable night.
🗓️ Wednesday, June 3
⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
📍 Cadence Park Auditorium
🎟️ Be sure to RSVP using the link below to reserve your spot.
📄 Keep an eye out for the permission slip, which will be sent home through homeroom teachers.

We will say goodbye to our 8th Grade Pumas at the Promotion Ceremony on Friday, June 5, the morning of the last day of school.
This special day begins with a beloved Cadence Park tradition—our elementary students line the walkways to cheer on the 8th graders as they make their way through campus to the ceremony in the Middle School Quad. It’s a powerful and joyful send-off for our graduating class.
The school will be sharing important information about ceremony tickets and logistics. While the staff prepares the formal ceremony, PTSA is planning the celebration to follow, including musicians, a photo booth, food, and 8th grade gifts. Because this moment deserves to be celebrated in a big way.
🎉 Families also have the opportunity to celebrate their graduates with 2026 Grad Yard Signs. Order a standard sign for $20 or a personalized sign for $25. The deadline to order yard signs is May 17th.

🙌 We are also looking for a few volunteers to help with the event. If possible, we would love support from non-8th grade parents so our 8th grade families can fully relax and enjoy this meaningful morning.

What an incredible weekend for our Cadence Park Pumas! This past Saturday, our runners took over the OC Marathon events, showcasing the spirit, stamina, and dedication we’ve been building all year at the Puma Run Club.
Whether they were sprinting the Final Mile or tackling the 5K, our Pumas didn’t just show up—they dominated! We are so proud of the 20 runners who completed the Kids Run the OC 1-mile event and the 13 Pumas who conquered the 5K. A special roar goes out to our one exceptional Puma who showed ultimate endurance by crushing both the 5k and the Half Marathon!
🏅 Celebrating Dedication & Healthy Habits
Beyond the finish line medals, we are celebrating the months of hard work it took to get there. These athletes have been honing their bodies and minds through weekly Run Club sessions and independent training. They aren’t just learning how to run; they are learning how to build lifelong healthy habits and the discipline required to reach a goal.
🌟 Special Leader Shout-Outs
Our staff led by example, proving that Puma pride runs deep!
-
Ms. Mori: Our amazing teacher-coach crushed both the 1-mile and the 5K!
-
Mrs. Harvey: Our Vice Principal went the extra mile (literally!) by running the 1-mile event twice to support both age groups.
-
Mr. Grasso: Thank you for coming out early to cheer on and inspire our 5K runners before their big race!
-
Our Parents: A massive thank you to the parents and families—your support, transportation, and cheering are what make these opportunities possible.
⚡ Record-Breaking Performances
While every Puma crushed their personal goals, we have to give a massive shout-out to some truly breathtaking performances that set the pavement on fire!
Shay Patel in 2nd grade was a total blur, cruising through the 1-mile course in a lightning-fast 8 minutes and 5 seconds. Not to be outdone, fellow 2nd grader Aneesh Bhat absolutely dominated the 5K, finishing in a staggering 28 minutes and 24 seconds—maintaining a blistering pace of just 9 minutes and 8 seconds per mile!
Finally, a huge round of applause for our incredible 6th grader, Edward Wei, who showed elite endurance by annihilating the Half Marathon (all 13.1 miles!) in under 2 hours and 27 minutes after breezing through the 5k the day before with his fellow Pumas!
These Pumas are proof that hard work and training really pay off!

Our Puma Marketplace on Friday, April 10 was an incredible success, with an amazing turnout from across our entire community.
The Middle School Quad was filled with energy as our student entrepreneurs showcased their creativity—selling everything from homemade treats to handcrafted goods. It was inspiring to see students step into their roles as creators, problem-solvers, and business owners.
The evening was brought to life with performances from our talented middle school music students, and we even closed out the night with a special appearance from a Dad Band, making it a true community celebration.
More than anything, Puma Marketplace continues to be a uniquely special experience—giving our students the opportunity to build confidence and share their ideas, while bringing our community together in such a meaningful way.
A huge thank you to our incredible event chair, Xiaoxiao Gu, for her leadership in bringing this event to life, and to everyone who came out to support our students.

On April 18–19, nearly 40 families gathered on the field for a memorable night of camping under the stars at Camp Cadence.
The evening was filled with fun and connection—from a high-energy dance party led by DJ Anthony to a hands-on activity with the Steminists, where our Pumas designed their own lava lamps. Families enjoyed a movie under the stars, and the night ended with laughter, music, and time spent together as a community.
In the morning, campers were treated to a delicious pancake breakfast prepared by the Irvine Kiwanis Club—a perfect way to wrap up a special weekend.
A huge thank you to our event chairs, Grand Chan and Brendan Collins, for bringing this experience to life, with special support from Celso Gutierrez-Cueva.

At Cadence Park, we believe every student should be able to participate—no matter what. That’s why the PTSA offers scholarships for any of our programs that have a cost, including tournament fees and even yearbook.
All of our programs are free to join, but if fees ever get in the way, we’re here to help. Just fill out our quick, confidential Scholarship Form and we’ll take care of the rest.
